it seems that everyone in japan knows the basics of origami...i gave my english student some cherries to take home, and she immediately whipped up a quick origami box to carry them in...
I think it's in common with Chinese people. Years ago happened to me quite the same with a Chinese man (that prove that men too are able into origami there)
